Deck the Halls

well at least the tree!!

In my house - the tree decorating is such a big deal... and I love Christmas... so we like to put up our tree early enough to be enjoyed for the entire Christmas month or two..or until I get sick of finding decorations in weird spots around the house...But our tree is not one of those "magazine" designer trees... with everything colour co-ordinated and beautiful ...its more of a mismatch of bits and pieces from school, kinder and just because .. but to me its memories of happy little kids getting older each year and adding their own personal flair to our tree.
So this year its my turn to add some flair to our tree - with these
Bakers twine decorations.

Vintage Christmas

You all have to get your hands on these most adorable vintage playing cards to complete all your Christmas cards... This one is on its way to my Nanna.
Isn't she just the sweetest, standing there under the mistletoe ... just waiting .. all dressed up.... love it.
I have used lots of goodies from the vintage paper pack too and of course my Fave ... Bakers twine in red... Christmas wont be the same without it!!!

Christmas ideas with bakers twine

Hi All

Just thought I would pop in to show you all another Christmas idea using Bakers Twine available in the shop

Remember those string art pieces around in the seventies? My Mum used to make them to sell at markets.... well they really were quite ugly.
But my little card isn't ugly - I think its kind of funky and makes me want to eat a candy cane - a peppermint one, not those yukky fruity ones available these days .....ewwww

I have used Sam's yummy Bakers Twine that I cant get enough of and made this little star that I have sewn onto the cardstock to make a really cute Christmas star card and inked the edges in green and added a title

Dont forget to put the bakers twine on your Santa list!!!

So you too can make these cute tags like I have using the Bakers twine available in the shop.

Yep - with only 6 weeks to go until Christmas, its time to start creating and decorating the house ready for the big day. OH... my tummy does a flip just thinking about it - partly through excitement ( I love Christmas) and partly through nerves of not feeling "organised"

These cute little tags were so quick and easy and I think they would look super cute under the tree sitting on that present for someone special.
I think they add a retro vintage feel to wrapping ... a parcel wrapped up in bakers twine in traditional red and green .... brown paper pakages tied up with bakers twine string... these are a few of my favourite things....sorry
Its time to start getting the Christmas cards made too ... nothing nicer than a home made card for that extra special touch.... some card ideas coming in the next post. Get your bakers twine orders in... you dont want to miss my bakers twine card idea....

...and now one for the girls...

Have you ordered your vintage pack yet???
If not then you will miss out on being able to create this!!
Just love the way this LO has turned out - so completely different to my boy layout - but using the same pack of goodies available in the shop... and adding my own personal touch to girly it up a bit.

I misted the book pages... and wrapped the tickets with some of the bakers twine... added a scallop music sheet ...and a little more twine.... yes even purple.... but it looked so pretty...punched some book pages to make 'buttons'... and a twist of twine.. and more misting, a few paper punched butterflies... some sweet vintage flowers and doilies.... and we are done!!
and still have heaps left over for another LO....
close up photos on my blog soon ....

stay good - Mel

VINTAGE PAPER PACK LAYOUTS

Hi Everyone
Its Mel here with my first ever post for Old Favourites!!
Sam has let me play around with the awesome Vintage Paper Pack available in the shop. Let me tell you this pack was FULL of lots of yummy goodies to play with such as vintage book pages in lots of different languages, vintage cards, soft drink labels, tags, authentic vintage tickets and library cards, cute bingo cards and envelopes. I sat there and literally went through it a million times with lots of ideas flooding through my head!!

So here is my first layout - Another one for the boys.... I have used alot of the paper pack here in this LO but have plenty left over for future layouts.
Seen here you can see the soft drink label (my fav!!), vintage bingo card, vintage ticket, monopoly money and playing cards and childrens book papers.... and a photo of a cute little man.... and of course the gorgeous twine available in heaps of different colours!!

And of course it wouldn't be a post from me if I didn't take advantage of my trusty 'macro' button on my camera...

Ahhh... gotta love that button... Sooooo...Jump over to the store now - grab yourself a Vintage Paper Pack and play along.... and stay tuned for a "GIRL" layout using more of the yummy goodies from the pack very soon....
